Paragon, the routing & scheduling software specialist, is proud to announce its continued support of Streetscape, a charitable organisation that helps young people learn a useful career skill and secure employment.

Led by Guy Watts and James Gubb, Streetscape is an exciting and entrepreneurial venture that sees out of work young people becoming trained apprentices. The enterprise is growing, and even more apprentices will be taken on next year.

The last 12-months saw Paragon sponsor the apprenticeship scheme for Streetscape’s first female recruit, Cheyenne Eastwood.  With an apprenticeship covering planting, decking and brickwork, Cheyenne’s also had the opportunity to travel to Wales, where she built a wildflower meadow in the grounds of a country house, and to France, where she worked on Streetscape’s show garden at a festival. She is now working on residential gardens in and around South London.

William Salter, Managing Director of Paragon Software Systems, recently met with Cheyenne. “She is a great ambassador for the Streetscape project,” he said. “Her commitment and enthusiasm are a real testament to the hard work and determination of the people behind Streetscape.”

Cheyenne loves what she does, and travels for more than an hour and a half each way every day to reach Myatts Field Park, a listed Victorian park in the south London Borough of Lambeth where Streetscape apprentices help with maintaining the park whilst gaining invaluable on the job training.  For Cheyenne and her fellow apprentices, it is the generosity of companies like Paragon who support Streetscape with donations that enables them to enter the job market with a year of hands-on experience and a recognised qualification.

“Cheyenne has been an inspiration to other young women who might otherwise not have considered a career in horticulture,” says Guy Watts, Streetscape’s Co-Founder. “Paragon has supported us since our launch in 2009, and it’s sponsorship from companies like Paragon that enables us to fund these apprenticeships, expand our scheme and help more young people to learn life changing skills.”

In keeping with its commitment to Streetscape, Paragon will fund another apprentice this year and will also contribute to the purchase of a top of the range mower to help make life a little easier for the Streetscape team.
