Paragon optimizes planning at Airgas, Inc.
In looking for a comprehensive planning and scheduling software solution, after an extensive selection process U.S. packaged gas distribution leader, Airgas, Inc., purchased Paragon as 'the obvious choice'.
Airgas, a multi-billion dollar company, is the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and safety equipment. It also distributes process chemicals, refrigerants and ammonia products.
With more than 900 distribution points and some 1 million customers across the U.S., Airgas needed to maximize its resource utilization and, at the same time, reduce transportation mileage costs.
In response, it has purchased Paragon's Multi-Depot, Fastnet, Multi-Period Planner and latest Territory Optimizer in order to run a number of end-to-end distribution studies, from initially aligning customers with their optimal distribution point and establishing balanced territories through to detailed routing and scheduling. As a result, each Airgas driver benefits from a compact delivery zone and even daily workloads.
