Paragon rowers celebrate success after crossing the Indian Ocean

August 4, 2009 | Categories: About Paragon

Paragon has welcomed Team MSS ashore following a record breaking 102 day voyage across the Indian Ocean. Rowers Guy Watts and Andrew Delaney were the first 'pairs' team to cross the Indian Ocean Rowing Race finish line, earning them the honour of being the first pair ever to cross the Indian Ocean using a rowing boat. The routing and scheduling software company sponsored the team's worthy endeavour to raise money for the male cancer charity – Orchid.

"We are delighted that Team MSS has completed the journey and to be the first pair ever to complete such a challenge is a fantastic achievement. We are proud of what Guy and Andrew have done both in terms of personal achievement and in raising money and awareness for a worthwhile cause," says William Salter, Paragon Software Systems' Managing Director. Guy's brother and Paragon employee, Tom Watts, was in Mauritius to welcome his brother back to shore.

During their physically and mentally demanding voyage, Team MSS faced bad weather, heavy seas, and sharks all of which Watts and Delaney recorded in their blog, which can still be found at http://blog.indianoceanrace.com/.

Paragon helped raise funds toward the £76,000 needed by Team MSS to compete and all extra proceeds will go to Orchid (http://www.orchid-cancer.org.uk/). Anyone wishing to make a donation to this worthwhile cause can do so online at www.bmycharity.com/V2/indianoceanrace.
