Effective driver & vehicle resource planning solutions
Resource Manager is Paragon's transport management software module which enables transport resources – drivers, tractors, trailers and rigids – to be managed effectively.
This transport management module adds a further dimension to Paragon’s planning and optimisation capabilities. It provides a convenient facility for storing and managing information about driver shift patterns and vehicle availability, and integrates this with Paragon’s transport planning and optimisation process. This means that Paragon schedules can be created that match the specific driver shifts and vehicles available, and historical performance can be monitored, for example in relation to drivers’ hours regulations, such as the European Working Time Directive.
Paragon's resource management software enables you to:
- Manage your transport resources effectively, maintaining a picture of resource history and forward availability – including own fleet and spot hire options
- Plan transport schedules that match planned drivers’ shift patterns and available fleet resources
- Achieve even workloads for drivers over their WTD reference periods
- Manage real-time changes effectively - with fleet resource information integrated with planning and execution (using Paragon Fleet Controller), transport plans can be adjusted during the day of delivery and drivers/tractors/trailers/rigids reallocated without compromising the efficiency of the overall transport plan
- Generate WTD compliance reports, maintaining legality and pre-empting WTD problems.
Resource Manager holds transport management information such as forward availability of drivers, tractors, trailers and rigids, including optional agency resources. Agreed driver shift patterns and vehicle VOR days can also be set up.
This provides the day to day resource data that enables the Paragon optimiser to calculate routes and schedules that match fleet availability and the shifts planned for each driver.
On completion of each day’s schedules, the driving time, duty time and WTD working time incurred can be recorded in Resource Manager so that histories and cumulative totals can be monitored and reported. WTD reports can be produced enabling transport management to see rolling averages and potential violations.
As a multi-user SQL database, Resource Manager is also easy to keep up to date and can be accessed by users in different departments as necessary. By providing day to day resource data at individual driver/tractor/trailer/rigid level, it also provides the required input for Fleet Controller - Paragon's fleet management software - providing the link between the Paragon-planned routes and the individual vehicles being tracked.
Crucially, Resource Manager also calculates each driver’s current rolling average weekly working time, so that the Paragon optimiser can give less work to drivers that are ahead, and more work to drivers that have fallen behind. This automatic process helps transport managers to allocate even workloads to drivers over their WTD reference periods and avoid violations.
