Food Logistics’ annual Top Green Providers recognizes companies whose products, services, or exemplary leadership is enhancing sustainability within the food and beverage industry. Paragon Software Systems has been named to the Food Logistics Magazine’s 2019 Top Green Providers list for the fifth time since 2013.

“We’re delighted that Food Logistics has once again recognized the role efficient routing can play in creating more sustainability in the food supply chain,” said Paragon CEO William Salter. “The simple fact is, the less time trucks spend on the road completing deliveries, the less impact they have on the environment.”

“Our Top Green Providers demonstrate leadership in sustainability throughout the global food supply chain, from better management of natural resources to technology applications and operational improvements that reduce food waste from the farm to the retailer to the end consumer,” notes Lara L. Sowinski, Food Logistics’ editorial director. “Environmental stewardship is a defining feature for these companies, as is their determination to continually raise the sustainability bar year after year.”

Paragon has many examples of food distribution case studies that show delivery vehicles can cut 10-30 percent of overall costs by driving fewer miles and spending less time on the road – savings that translate into reduced greenhouse gases, pollution and congestion. The benefits of optimized routing are measured closely by Paragon customers, using critical KPIs, such as miles driven, fuel consumption, density of drops per trip, the number of deliveries completed by drivers in a shift and transport spend. Many of our food distribution customers also regard CO2 reduction as a critical KPI in realizing greater sustainability. Paragon’s routing software gives total transparency to these and a host of other measurables critical in tracking carbon footprint and improvements in sustainability.
