Third consecutive win of prestigious award for reducing mileage, minimizing carbon emissions & lowering fuel usage

Paragon has been recognized for the third consecutive year with the Top Green Provider Award from Food Logistics magazine. The award offers logistics professionals a guide to the providers, manufacturers, and software and technology companies that have found new ways to promote sustainability throughout their operations and those of their customers. Paragon was chosen for improving routing efficiency for food logistics customers by minimizing mileage, which reduces fuel usage and truck emissions.

“We are especially pleased to receive this prestigious award for the third consecutive year for helping food and beverage customers achieve sustainable goals by reducing their carbon footprint,” said William Salter, CEO. “In addition to using Paragon’s software to build efficient routes that reduce empty running, cut mileage and reduce fleet size by up to 20%, fleet operators also have access to Paragon’s Carbon Minimizer to generate carbon-friendly schedules. This Paragon functionality takes into account slower urban journeys that incur more fuel/CO2 per mile than faster highway journeys and heavily loaded vehicles that use more fuel/CO2 per mile than empty ones. Since a truck typically generates hundreds of tons of carbon dioxide emissions in its lifetime, Paragon solutions have a direct impact on reducing our customers’ greenhouse gas emissions, benefitting individual organizations and the environment as a whole.”

Eco-fleet achievements made by individual Paragon customers include: reductions in 900,000 lbs. of CO2; cutting 150,000 miles/week on deliveries; and saving 143,000 gallons of gas. As well as cutting transportation costs and improving operational efficiency by up to 20%, the Paragon software also enables companies to shorten order lead times, generate more consistent transportation schedules, save carrier costs, smooth warehouse workloads for greater efficiency, streamline transportation operations and raise customer service performance.

William Salter continues, “By being able to create more efficient routes to reduce mileage and generate more carbon-friendly schedules based on road speed and load weights, Paragon customers can better meet their sustainability goals and green supply chain targets. The Paragon system uses an advanced algorithm designed specifically for optimizing road-based transportation operations and digital mapping to calculate the most cost effective delivery schedules with minimized mileage, which results in lower fuel usage and hence, lower carbon emissions, making it the system of choice for over 3300 systems at more than 1000 customer sites in over 50 countries.”
